McGregor Bay to Covered Portage Cove

Leg 16 of our 2022 cruise up north

Today we were able to actually sail again!

After motoring out of the narrow sections of McGregor Bay, we sailed in light air around McGregor Point, beat across Frazer Bay, and sailed most of the occasionally narrow Lansdowne Channel to Covered Portage Cove.

Today we crisscrossed our route from previous days a bunch.

It would be cool to own a seaplane and fly to a cottage out here.

We’ve been to Covered Portage before (and I’ve written about it before, too), but it remains a “must see” and “must visit” place every time we go to the North Channel. We’ve been able to anchor and shore tie inside the “inner” cove in the past, but this evening it was a little crowded. Nobody tied ashore, with all boats swinging at anchor in the middle. With thunderstorms depicted on our weather radar and in the forecast for tonight, we chose to anchor in the “outer” cove with several other boats. It’s still super pretty and protected out here!

Tonight we may get some rain, so we’ll probably close most of the hatches before heading to bed. I will try out the new forward hatch shade to see how well it keeps the rain out, though.
