Leg 2 of our 2022 cruise up north
(to read about Leg 1, Milwaukee to Sheboygan, click here)
With strong (15-25knots) west winds, I had originally hoped we could follow the Wisconsin shore up to Kewaunee today. Unfortunately, the forecast on SailFlow called for the wind to shift north-northwest shortly after we’d round Rawley Point… which would not be fun. We kept things easy and made a quick 20nm sail to Manitowoc today.
With the strong winds blowing from the shore just to windward of us, the water was nice and flat. Unfortunately, it also uncovers the cold water below the surface, yielding water temps in the upper 40s and low 50s. It was actually kinda cold!
For the second night in a row, we are in a marina. We even got takeout from an Asian restaurant for a second time, as well. Since most of our meals “up north” will be cooked on the boat, we figured it was okay to splurge once again. Probably crossing the lake tomorrow.
